I’m pleased to announce that the long awaited name and format change of our Financial Crisis Talk Center Radio and TV Show to “Law and Reality” is here. This story began November 1, 2008. Remember then – the beginning of the unraveling of the financial world and the Financial Crisis. At that time, we took to the radio to launch The Financial Crisis Talk Center as a forum to discuss the negative countrywide view of the Detroit Auto Industry and the ongoing unraveling of the financial markets.
In jest, I said, “We will do the show for 6 months, the economy will recover and then I can return to golfing on Saturday mornings!” Well – it’s been nearly six years – and we’re still going strong on the radio show and in January of 2013 we launched the TV version of the show on TV20.
For 32 years I’ve been a business lawyer – and it is with a business lawyer’s approach that we developed the theories and creative solutions to addressing financial issues. During the heat of The Financial Crisis when someone asked me, “What do you do?” My reply was, “I’m a Business Lawyer that specializes in Financial Crisis Management because that is the only business in town!”
Though the economy is still struggling in many respects, there can be no debate about three points: (1) Things are better in Michigan now than they were in 2009-2012; (2) Whether things are better on an individual basis is a question of the individual’s situation. If you’re carrying too much debt, are underwater or your income is still suffering from the Financial Crisis, then you still have problems that need to be addressed; and (3) We live in a complex world and face many legal issues.
We’re changing the name of the show – to Law and Reality – because I believe it better reflects how we view legal issues. Legal analysis is nice, but unless the reality of the situation is given paramount priority, it is an esoteric conversation – and that is NOT what we enjoy.
As lawyers, our business is to solve problems with creative solutions. Thav Gross addresses virtually all legal problems, so the new name is designed to reflect the expansion of topics that we will cover on the show. FINANCIAL ISSUES will of course continue, but our audience has spoken and we’ve listened. So we will be expanding to cover issues such as DIVORCE, ELDER LAW, ESTATE PLANNING, CRIMINAL LAW, IMMIGRATION LAW, as well as any “real” issue that is of concern and interest to the public.
Saturday’s show will feature two guests – Pat Simasko, from Simasko Law who specializes in Elder Law (on the TV show on 9/14) and Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon (on the TV show on 9/21). If you have a chance, listen or watch. You can always catch the Podcast on our website www.lawandreality.com or You Tube Channel – CLICK HERE!
Enjoy the weekend and be sure to listen in on Saturdays from 8:30 to 10 AM on WDFN 1130 AM – on iHeart at CLICK HERE! – and watch the Show on TV 20 on Sundays at 11 AM.
